Funny, Oldman won for Darkest Hour, but it wasn't even the best Churchill movie! That goes to Churchill, starring Brian Cox. Saw it the other day, great.

With Spiderman being one of my favorite superhero’s, you’d think I would have been all over Homecoming. I was reluctant to see it as Holland looked like he wouldn’t hold to honor of playing Peter Parker.
I finally caved and I want my $ and time back. Holland spit in face of the comics and completely destroyed any decent portrayal of Spidey. Fuck Tom Holland.

I downloaded via torrent and watched Downsizing starring Matt Damon.
It started out great, but then took a dive. I watched it for free and feel ripped off. Stay away from it.

Re: The Recently Watched Movie Thread
I do agree that the first half is miles better than the second half. Such potential wasted.
Re: The Recently Watched Movie Thread
The second half was a bit preachy but I actually preferred it to the first half and tone of the initial trailers.

Saw Ready Player One in IMAX 3D last week! I read the book a couple years ago. I would say, if you didn't read it, the movie is really good, tons of fun, and a simple, cool story. If you did read it, the movie skips far too much of it. You can't blame Spielberg/Cline, to an extent, but the book is so immersive, honestly this film did it very little justice. It probably should have been a mini-series, but they'd never have the budget to do it justice. The effects are incredible, and really capture what Cline wrote in the book to a T. That said, glaring omissions were everywhere. The end battle totally pales from the book, and LOL they even skipped how the "Ready Player One" title comes from. I also felt using The Shining as the "movie world" to visit was a bad choice as most people have never seen it.

I loved ready player one, the first and second challenges are amazing and I thought the Shining scene was so well done.

A Quiet Place over the weekend. Very little spoken dialogue in the movie but still very good. Really curious to see how John Krasinski is in the new Jack Ryan series coming to Amazon Prime this summer.
