NJPW talent annonced for latest WOTW tour

GoD, Yuji Nagata, Hikuleo, Hirooki Goto, Kojima, Evil, Sanada, and Shibata (M&G only, obv not wrestling) added to upcoming ROH shows in Buffalo, Toronto, Grand Rapids, and Chicago. ROH is dragging their feet announcing who (other than Shibata) is doing the pre-show M&G at any of the shows, but I got...

Re: A look at the hobby in the 90s

WMX was the first Fan Fest, but they did do some sort of M&G stuff in conjunction to WM4 - I remember the Coliseum Home Video version had clips of events and autograph signings. Starting at about 2:45 in the video below, you can see Jesse Ventura, Steamboat, Gorilla Monsoon, and Mean Gene signing fo...

Re: A look at the hobby in the 90s

Wow, for $75, you could have theoretically gotten combos with Undertaker, Bret, Macho Man, and Vince?

Re: Starrcast 2, Las Vegas (May 23-26, 2019)

Kobashi is a GREAT name, but not enough personal interest to fly for. If it was anywhere northeast, I'd totally get him. Good add.

I want to see the Bruiser Brody episode. I saw the Highspots documentary and that was just fantastic.
Viceland put the Brody episode up on their Youtube channel:

Re: Dark Side of the Ring

I imagine it will be a great episode, but it's a shame that some of the people who would have had the most insight (Gary Hart and Chris Adams, specifically) have already passed.

Re: Starrcast 2, Las Vegas (May 23-26, 2019)

Definitely need Fujinami, but not nearly enough to fly anywhere for. Can't think of many Japanese legends that could get me on a plane either...MAYBE if they booked Bull Nakano doing in-gimmick photo ops, but even that's not a definite.

Re: Starrcast 2, Las Vegas (May 23-26, 2019)

Sucks, but every convention promoter lives and dies with the risk that if headline talent gets a better work deal, they can (and will) cancel. If you book Norman Reedus and AMC says they want him to do a promotional thing overseas that weekend, he's cancelling. If you book Robert Englund and he gets...

Re: A look at the hobby in 1991

If people were "hobby minded" towards the end of his WWF run, Savage wasn't being used as a full-time worker on the road, so he was doing a lot of public appearances, and also doing a lot of the small C-town venues when he worked. I went to a house show Savage worked at the small hockey rink near wh...

Re: A look at the hobby in 1991

I just think back to being a pre-teen back in the WWF "glory days", and thinking that meeting Hogan and Macho Man would have been like Superman and Batman showing up to me, so seeing two lower midcarders instead would have been completely devastating. It would have been like going out to that Arnold...

Re: A look at the hobby in 1991

I can't even imagine my reaction to paying to meet Hogan & Savage in 91, and getting Virgil & Neidhart instead. I'm a pretty laid back, non-aggressive guy, but I very well might have gotten myself arrested in that situation, lol.

Re: List of people in the Savage realm

It's not a single event, but the 1/4 week is the closest to the Japanese equivalent of WrestleCon - Almost every active wrestler is booked in Tokyo that week, and a good amount of legends as well. Between going to the Korakuen Hall shows that week, and getting the many gettable street meet people, y...

Re: List of people in the Savage realm

That's very true. I wonder if Japan has wrestling conventions or signings? When I was there, there were no straight-up conventions (that I knew of), but just about every wrestling show I was at (except the big WrestleKingdom one at the Tokyo Dome) had the wrestlers all signing at tables before or a...

Re: Dark Side of the Ring

Yeah, and Cornette's version in this show kinda contradicts details he's given in about 682 different shoot interviews he's given over the years, so I think he's probably working at least a little bit. According to Cornette in this show, Vince was trying to come up with the finish talking to JUST Co...
