Alex Rodriguez @ Steiner Sports 02/16/2012
User luiginyc84 met Alex Rodriguez tonight and sent us this awesome report! Attended the Arod signing by Steiner Sports at the Roosevelt Field Mall. Kind of mixed reactions from this signing. Arrived at the mall at about 3:45pm. Picked up my ticket at the store and headed down to the area the signing was going to be at. Already 4 people waiting. So I was #5 at about 4pm. Signing was scheduled to start at 6:30. Arod arrived late. They did not start letting people in until about 7:20pm. Now they have a VIP line which usually goes in before the regular line, but for some reason, they let us go first. Possibly because of the wait. Now unlike other Steiner signings I have been to which were done in the actual mall area, they brought us through a couple hallways and down a flight of stairs to a back office area where he Arod was. Arod was seated at the table with a guy to his right. Then another 3 guys standing in front of the table to his left and another 2 guys seated in front of the table to his right. You would think he was the president with all the guys around him. lol. The first 4 people were brought up to the table and had their items signed pretty quickly, with no photos. At least I didn't see them even ask. Got up to the table put my poster down and before I could hand him my blue sharpie or at least ask him to use a blue sharpie, his handler handed him a sharpie and he quickly signed my poster. Luckily it was a blue sharpie. I really wanted him to sign in a different area, but he was too quick. Still came out ok. Usually I have someone with me to take my photos for me, but I didn't today. I figured with the way they were moving things along and because I didn't have someone with me to take the quick photo, I would be out of luck. However, one of the guys at the table is one of the regular Steiner guys who kind of knows me from seeing me at numerous past signings. So after Arod signs my poster I ask him "Mr. Rodriguez, would you mind a quick photo?". He said sure and looked up. I asked the Steiner guy to take the photo and he did it pretty quick and I thanked Arod who smiled and nodded his head I was handed my camera on my way out the door. You see Arod fine, but me not so much. Better than nothing I guess with the way they were moving things along. Overall, Arod was ok. I didnt expect him to be ultra friendly from past stories I have heard. He wasn't the friendliest, but wasn't a complete jerk either.
